At a distance of 20 minutes on foot, in a beautifully landscaped scenery, there is the Souda Bay War Cemetery, also known as "Deutsche Soldaten Friedhof", where ceremonies take place every year in memory of the victims of the Second World War, who lost their lives mainly during the Battle of Crete.Throughout the year, many visitors, visit this place.
Visit the Municipal Market, commonly known as "Agora", where you will find many shops with traditional Cretan products such as cheese, olives, raki etc.
And don't miss the Old Venetian harbor of Chania, where the lighthouse is a distinctive feature at the harbor entrance and always fascinates visitors and is one of the most-photographed monuments in Crete.
Aradaina Bridge is 138 meters high and is located in the prefecture of Chania, municipality of Sfakia, (about 1h 45m away) Crete Island. It is the highest bridge for bungy jumping in Greece and the second highest in Europe.
Samaria Gorge is the longest trekking gorge in Europe and also the most famous of all. Thousands of tourists flock here daily in the summer season to walk from the top to the bottom. For many visitors, it?is the sole purpose of their visit to Crete. The length of the gorge, which belongs to the European E4 path, reaches 18km and takes almost 4-7 hours to hike from Omalos to Agia Roumeli, depending on trekking speed.
The submarine Cave of Elephants is located in Drepano area of Akrotiri, in Chania prefecture and out of Souda Bay. The cave was discovered in 1999 by the snorkeler Manolis Efthymakis and was then showed in January 2000 in Star TV by the professional diver and filmmaker G. Tzanakis. Thus, Ephorate of Palaeoanthropology and Speleology, in collaboration with Creta's Diving Center, organized the first mission to explore the cave on 31th March 2000. The findings were fantastic: apart from the breathtaking beauty of the cave, bones of unknown elephant species were also found.
